Water Heaters

Balance Point is happy to offer our Boulder, CO, customers two options when it comes to water heaters.

Many people are familiar with the traditional water heater. It works by storing water in a tank and keeping it heated to a preset temperature.

A tankless water heater is a new idea to many people. How does it work? As the name implies, there is no tank to store water. Instead, water is heated on an as-needed basis. A couple of the key benefits of a tankless water heater are that you are not heating water until it’s needed and you won’t run out of hot water.

Let the water heater professionals at Balance Point help you determine which type of water heater is best for your situation.

Indoor Air Quality

Between work and home life, the average person spends about 90 percent of their time indoors. Indoor air can be two to five times more polluted than outside air. In fact, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) ranked indoor air quality (IAQ) as a top five environmental danger.

A well-insulated home can help with your energy bills by keeping a constant temperature, but that also leads to the same air being recycled through your home each time you run your air conditioner or furnace. Be sure you have proper filtration in place to prevent allergens and bacteria from circulating through your air.

Balance Point can help you breathe easy. Call us today at 970-480-0387, and we can put together a plan for your home.

Air Ducts

According to the US Department of Energy’s ENERGY STAR® program, leaky ducts in attics or crawl spaces can account for 20 percent or more of a home’s heating and cooling energy losses. This makes it difficult to keep your house comfortable and can result in higher utility bills. Some signs you may have leaky ducts include:

  • High summer and winter utility bills
  • Rooms difficult to heat and cool
  • Stuffy rooms that never seem to feel comfortable
  • Ducts located in an attic, crawl space, or garage
  • Tangled or kinked flexible ducts in your system

Humidifiers and Dehumidifiers

The comfort of your home not only depends on the air temperature but also the amount of moisture in the air.

Cold weather typically means dry, uncomfortable air. Dry air can cause respiratory problems as well as damage wood furniture. Whole-house humidifiers emit water vapor to increase the humidity in your home.

On the other hand, hot weather can mean thick, humid air. This can lead to condensation on your windows, mold spots on walls or ceilings, and blistering paint or peeling wallpaper, just to list a few issues. A whole-house dehumidifier removes excess moisture from the air in your home.

Whole-house humidifiers can improve your indoor air quality, as well as positively impact the overall health of your family and health of your home. Controlling the humidity in your home will help protect not only your respiratory system but also your wood floors, furniture, and artwork.

Let our professionals at Balance Point help you decide what’s best for your home. Call us at 970-480-0387 or request service online today.

Garry D.
We had Balance Point install a heat pump/mini split system for us. They did an excellent job from start to finish and we are really happy with it so far. We have a rather funky custom home that presented some challenges, but Nick outlined a good plan that made sense and the installers, Anthony and Ryan, carried it out expertly. Thanks a lot to Balance Point!

First off I must say that as a homeowner, and Building Contractor for over 3o years, I have worked with many Subcontractors and I am extremely demanding regarding services provided.Saying that, I am pleased to say that Balance Point Heating & Air Conditioning deserves 6 Stars!!!This project consisted of the following;1. Removal of 51 year old American Standard Boiler and associated components, removal of standard water heater.2. Installation of Navien wall mounted combination Boiler (providing baseboard heat and domestic hot water)3. Installation of a Mitsubishi Hyper Heat Pump and one wall mounted, and one recessed ceiling indoor units.4. Installation of a Stealth Pro whole house fan.Enough about the components, now for the process;A. We met originally with Nick who is on the design end of things. We discussed the various options with Nick who did a thorough job of reviewing our spaces and the existing equipment. He provided us with a design and an estimate of the costs. He is extremely thorough, courteous and provided guidance throughout the project for the field installers and us.B. The two Technicians who did the install went beyond the call of duty in terms of promptness, protection of the property, and because of the complexity of the project worked with our permission to 7:00 pm some evenings to get the project completed as soon as possible.C. It is clear to my wife, and I that Balance Point takes extreme pride in their people and the work that they do. It is obvious that they are highly trained.I am including two pictures, one of the system before and after.Again I can't say enough good things about Balance Point.Mike Backlund and Jan Wilkie

Balance point helped us to move from an aging, oversized A/C system to a more appropriately sized air source heat pump (with a more efficient furnace for adjunct heat). Nick did a great job assessing our existing duct structure and capacity to size the new system to our house. His knowledgeable help to balance all of the options was invaluable. When the time came to install the new system, Kevin and Steel took great care to remove the old system and install the furnace and heat pump. Their craftsmanship was excellent, and their explanation of the functionality of the new thermostat and system settings were great! The new system works very nicely and is much quieter than the original system that came with the house (both mechanical noise and reduction of turbulent airflow in the ducts). I haven't had a chance to test the cooling capability yet, but I look forward to doing that. Working with the Balance Point team has been a great experience, and I felt well supported.
So far we're delighted with the performance of our heat pump. The installation was prompt and efficient. Anthony, and Ryan were delightful to work with. We were impressed by their hard work and long hours despite the cold. Nick made our options clear and arrived within an hour of our first call. Many thanks.

Dave and Nick are professional, knowledgeable, and are great to work with. The installers are careful of their surroundings, covering, and protecting furniture and floors. Making sure we are comfortable with equipment locations in wall and ceilng.
